It's frequently the little things that make a difference when it comes to losing weight. Take, for example, this 5-minute practice that teaches you about mindful eating.
Many people struggle with eating in a mindful and regulated manner. As a result, they gorge themselves on potato chips or chocolate bars, acquiring tremendous quantities of weight. To disrupt this vicious cycle, we've devised a simple mindfulness practice that will help you become more aware of your eating habits. A single raisin is used for this activity.
Raisin exercise aids weight loss.
In an interview with "New Idea" magazine, nutrition expert Charlotte Thaarup points out that eating mindfully takes only five minutes - and can help you lose weight in the long run.
The so-called "raisin exercise" works like this:
- Take a raisin in your hand and use all of your senses to investigate it.
- Take a good look at the raisin and pay attention to the texture and color.
- Feel it in the palm of your hand.
- Take a whiff of the raisin.
When the raisin is between your teeth, focus on the taste and sensation.
Of course, the purpose of this exercise is to teach awareness eating so that you can eat more slowly. The emphasis should always be on the food. Only in this manner will you be able to recognize when you are truly full. While eating, television, the Internet, and the radio should be avoided since they distract you and tempt you to overeat.
